Wow. What a day today. The first half of it was temperate and the climb up Geiger was nice. We came out of six mile canyon; I nearly died today. I was going down six mile canyon at about 35 mph and there was a bus coming up that decided it wanted to swing it wide. I had to avoid it so I slid over. There wasn’t much room on the road so I hit the edge of the road where it was deteriorating. I started to fish tail and hop around and slide all over but managed to gain control after what seemed like 5 minutes. I got back on the road and it got my adrenaline running.
Then we pulled up to Bill and Suzette’s home. We had lunch there (bbq chicken with a huge selection of salads and chips). When Bradford pulled up he brought a family friend of Bill and Suzette. She has cancer and it was pretty moving to see her there because it felt good to know that you’re doing some good for people who are in pain. We left Fallon and, luck of the draw, we had a FIERCE headwind. It was really tough to deal with. I made it up a climb and my right calf locked up so I had to sit and ride in the car. I told myself that I would finish the ride so I got out after about two miles and rode in from there.
I am very grateful to all those that came out to ride with us to the end. Joe, Coleman, and Mary Ann. I owe them so much for coming out even if it was a short time. Mary Ann kept saying “I’ll break up the wind for you guys because I’m only going 128 miles and you guys are going 667 miles. I’m going to break it up the whole time.” I’m kind of excited that today is over because it rained and there was a head wind. We’ll see what happens on tomorrow’s ride. Hope you guys donate to this ride because this disease is nasty. I’ve seen a lot of people hurt because of it. I’ll write again tomorrow.

You are a STUD! Your mother will be stoned at our next meeting. She should be rubbing your feet nightly because you DESERVE IT! Keep it up, you rock!
