Today was a great day. I woke up exhausted and thoroughly beat up from the Tuesday ride. But I was not alone. All of us felt the same. We left the hotel in Eureka with a climb uphill on the first of five climbs today. The summits range from 6,517 to 7,722 feet. But my legs never fell off. Everybody worked hard together and everyone pulled together. It was great day.
I have appreciated hearing voice mails and reading texts of encouragement from those who have sent or left them. They are priceless. When you think you can’t go on, little words mean so much. Taylor has been priceless today with those words and his service to us.
Tomorrow we are off to Delta. Jeff’s boss from Ohio has flown out here on his own dime to work road support. I am always amazed by people’s kindness and willingness to help. Around 115 miles tomorrow. We again pray for favorable winds. Thank you Jim and Yolanda for all of the work. You will be missed tomorrow.

Today was our day of climbing-5 total hills to conquer. I made it up all the hills however, even if only at a crawling pace at times. My legs felt great today and I couldn’t be more suprised. As the days go on my legs get less sore and more willing to do the work. It is just youth I am told. I have also gotten better at the whole nutrition thing and staying hydrated all day.
All in all it was a great day of riding. I am so happy to be a little over half way there and I now have the confidence that I can even make it through this crazy adventure!! I was also surprised by my wife today as she came out to watch us. I was expecting to see her tomorrow but it is great to have her here and her whole family also. I look forward to them cheering us on tomorrow. It makes such a huge difference out there!
Thank you to Jim and Yolanda also for supporting us so much thus far.

Today was a great day for riding. Thank heavens there was no repeat of the snow storm we had last year. It was cool most of the day which is ideal for riding.
About 30 miles from the end of the day, out in the middle of nowhere, we ran into a gentleman pushing a stoller along the highway. Of course we had to stop and find out what would possess a person to do something so out of the ordinary. His name was Robert Williams and he is walking from San Francisco to Washington DC to raise money and awareness for Autism. Who would have thought that while riding my bike 650 miles across the Nevada desert to raise money and awareness for cancer, I would meet someone working just as diligently for a similar cause. That was inspirational! Good Luck Robert.
I look forward to having Jeff join us on the last day provided his son’s medical condition is much improved. Thanks again to all for donating to this cause when there are so many requests for our financial attention.
Que Dios le bendiga.
